the secrets of the Historic Métis community on the Fraser River from

"You
could be one of the first 320 people to Discover untold history of the fur
trade Voyagers that stayed and homesteaded along the Fraser River."
Dear Friend,
If you'd like to Paddle the
Fraser in a Forty-foot Canoe. Guided by a descendant of the 400 year old
fur trade. And Learn about untold history while taking in the Beautiful
scenery of the Fraser Valley, then this might be the most important letter
you'll ever read.
Here's why:

descendants of the Canadian Fur trade.

Now, I know you're probably
skeptical. That's normal and healthy. Let me give you three good reasons we
can back up what we claim:
Three
Reasons To Believe What I Say
Reason one: Fraser Valley
Métis Nation Corp is owned and operated by the descendants of the four
hundred year old Canadian fur trade. That married into the Coast Salish
blood lines and settled in the Fraser Valley in the late 1700’s early
1800's.
Reason two: Kevin your tour
guide, has forty plus years experience on the river, was born and raised on
the Fraser river growing up on a tugboat and in the commercial fishing
industry, for the last ten plus year's skippering large canoes, in
aboriginal events.
Reason three: This journey
comes from a life time of gathering family stories and hundred of hour’s in
history research, being certified in 1999 in Aboriginal tourism, Métis
history and culture.

Now, you're probably
wondering how and why we can do all those things.
Let me explain.
Your journey starts at
Mission bridge were we will all meet at the waters edge in Matsqui Regional
Park beside our transportation, a forty-foot fiberglass birch-bark Montreal
Canoe named Catherine Cabana.
(This tour is in honor of My
Great Grand mother.)
Once we have gone through
our safety rules, picked out our paddles, dawned our personal flotation
device, we will load into the canoe and proceed down river. We will proceed
through a few paddling exercises just to familiarize everyone on how to
paddle in unison and learn a few maneuver’s; it’s very fun and easy. As we
paddle down the river I will be pointing out points of interest telling
historic stories.
When we reach Crescent Island it’s the half way point and we will stop for
a washroom break and snack.
At this point I am from two homestead
family's strait across the river from each other. This is also where the
great train robbery happened (Billy Minor). we will then depart and head down
river and go in to the Stave River, learn about Ruskin Hotel, E.A.Heap’s
mill, Salish village after that we will come back out heading over to the
middle of crescent Island (crescent Island mike co) down past Whonnock (the
place of many frogs) to West creek, Fort Langley bluff's and end in Fort
Langley.
Don't
take my word for it.
Listen to what our customers say.
